Invitation to slow down this season

In the northern hemisphere, we’re entering an inward season. ❄️

At the same time, the global situation, the holiday season, and the general pace of life are not necessarily in line with this pull toward stillness and slowing down.

For myself, I’ve been finding it necessary to be more intentional about settling into stillness and finding the quiet spaces to slow down.

Stillness underlies all activity if we look for it, like the calm in deeper water under the waves.

These more still waters are the peaceful place from which we can gain insights, listen to our deeper selves, and take wise action.

So, even as the world seems to be moving quickly, I invite you to join me in remembering to take moments to find the stillness in this quieter season.

slow down

The Daoist philosophy on health relies on alignment with the seasons. If we tend to ourselves properly in the winter 🫖, we can be healthy in the summer ☀️.

If you’ve experienced stress or trauma that has led to a more active nervous system, or if you’re a sensitive person, slowing down and finding stillness can potentially be a little bit more challenging when there’s more going on externally…

…And finding this stillness regularly when things feel like they’re moving quickly might take more mindfulness, gentleness and tending to.

So, I invite you to take whatever time you need, and to do whatever you need to do throughout these next few months in particular, to access those deep, still calm and beautifully slower moments.

If you’d like some resources for this focus, here are a few nervous- system-oriented calming tapping guided meditations from years past to help with slowing down :

  1. Mindfulness meditation (follow along with this guided tapping meditation to release subconscious fears, release stress, and tap into the stillness of being underwater 💧)
  2.  Brain balancing technique (balance the left and right hemispheres of your brain for deeper overall balance and calm 🧠❤️)
  3. Help your body recover from stress technique (follow along to relax and soften your adrenals, relax the muscles in your body, and release stress from your whole endocrine system 💫)

If you try them, let me know how they go for you. You can reach me by hitting “reply ” to any email from me. Or if you do them all, let me know if you have a favorite!

May we all find ways to cultivate and access the peace and wisdom within stillness and slowness this season, even as we engage with whatever else arises that needs our attention 💫⁣

With love,
